Cycling is great for men and women, as well as children, so we have activities welcome to all.
We pride ourselves with the fact that our rides and training are pretty evenly split between both genders, and we enjoy cycling however fast or slow we go, with the emphasis on the slow and gentle rides. In addition, we host and support schemes which offer women special sessions.
Our Women Time and Cycling Sisters cycles are reassuringly relaxed. The rides are still open to all, but devoid of the sometimes off-putting speed merchants and techy dazzlers.
We start gently and there is plenty of cycling to stretch everyone a bit faster and further to encompass all into our approach. Through our women-focused schemes we can overturn the reputation of cycling as being male-dominated, and make sure it's the perfect way of getting around for all.
Happy Handlebars, in association with Chelmsford City Council, lead Women Time cycles every Tuesday and Saturday, meeting at the Cake at the Lake cafe, Central Park, Chelmsford. Our learn to ride session starts at 10:00am, followed by a short and gently ride starting at 11:00am and returning at 12:30pm. The first four sessions are free, and after that there is a small charge of £3 towards covering our costs.
